This piece was inspired by the natural beauty found at Oregon's Silver Falls State Park. Carl Thor composed the piece while hiking at the park on an early spring afternoon. “At each new scene along the trail,” he says, “I was hearing different musical themes in my mind. Having only a park map and a pen with me, I was able to jot down enough information to reconstruct these fragments later at home, and stitch them together into this captivating piece.” The piece utilizes the full range of the 4-octave hammered dulcimer. A recording of “Silver Falls Interlude” is included on Talisman's CD, Just Up the Hill.
